FAQs Basic Skills Assessments Career Guidance Information Tentative Schedule Administrative Medical Assistant - 17 weeks Classroom: 96 hours Cost: $1,270 An Administrative Medical Assistant works in the front office to help manage a busy medical office. Over the course of 17 weeks, our training features a combination of lecture and practical skill training to include telephone and computer skills, appointment scheduling, medical record handling, filing, billing, insurance coding, transcription and general office etiquette. More Information | Register Clinical Medical Assistant - 20 weeks Classroom: 134 hours Externship: 160 hours Cost: $2,285 Clinical Medical Assistants work in the back office and assist the physician with procedures, care for patients, perform simple laboratory tests and administer medications. Our 20 week training program prepares participants for work as a Clinical Medical Assistant. More Information | Register Massage Therapist - 17 weeks Classroom: 120 hours Externship: 120 hours Cost: $1,990 Learn massage techniques, hydrotherapy, specialized massage and therapeutic exercise as well as make appointments, greet clients, take brief medical histories, keep records and books, market your services, and maintain your work area. More Information | Register Medical Biller – 19 weeks Classroom: 126 hours Externship: 120 hours Cost: $1,910 The Medical Biller gathers charge information, checks coding, enters it into a computer, completes billing processes, and distributes billing information. Our training is designed to introduce students to the major nationwide medical insurance programs and give students a basic knowledge of the national diagnostic and procedural coding systems. More Information | Register Optical Technician – 20 weeks Classroom: 140 hours, Externship: 120 hours Cost: $2,795 The Optical Technician works as an Optical Assistant or Ophthalmic Technician under the supervision of a licensed eye care professional. Classroom Lectures cover the theory, anatomy and terminology pertaining to the eye. Practical instruction provides hands-on training in pertinent optical/ophthalmic procedures. Instruction covers anatomy of eye and theory of optics, prescription analysis, frame adjustment, repair, and fitting, lensometry and verification. Students will complete an externship to acquire on-the-job training in the profession. Graduates will receive a certificate of completion after successful completion of the course. More Information | Register Orthopedic Technician - 17 weeks Classroom: 112 hours Externship: 240 hours Cost: $1,845 Orthopedic Technicians care for orthopedic patients in acute care and clinic settings. Our 17 week course will include anatomy and physiology of the musculoskeletal system, infection control, patient education, taking patient history, orthopedic conditions, joint and muscle assessment, casting, splinting, bracing, traction, geriatric and pediatric consideration and documentation. More Information | Register Pharmacy Technician Training - 27 weeks Classroom: 182 hours, Externship: 120 hours Cost: $2,390 The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist with mixing and packaging prescriptions, maintaining client records, referring clients to the pharmacist for counseling, assisting with inventory control and purchasing, as well as collecting payment and coordinating billing. This course meets State certification requirements with 182 hours of classroom instruction and a 120 hour externship coordinated by Boston Reed College. Students must be 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent. Upon successful completion of course, students will be eligible to apply for registration with the State of California Board of Pharmacy to work as a Pharmacy Technician. ENHANCE YOUR SKILLS WITH THESE SHORT COURSES Phlebotomy for the Medical Professional - Two Days Classroom: 16 hours Cost: $395 Our two-day phlebotomy course is designed to provide current medical assistants, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), vocational and registered nurses, and medical doctors instruction in the art of drawing blood. Students will become proficient in venipuncture with syringe, vacutainer, butterfly and fingerstick methods built upon a foundation of basic principles of venous anatomy, physiology and sterile technique. More Information | Register EKG/ECG Training Program - One Day Classroom: 8 hours Cost: $375 This eight-hour EKG / ECG training program is a complete and fast-paced course designed to provide instruction in Electrocardiography testing procedures. We provide instruction in EKG unit operation and troubleshooting, lead placement using 12 lead EKG, use and understanding of EKG grid paper, recognizing normal and abnormal EKG patterns in all 12 leads and plotting EKG axis. Course material will be presented through lecture and hands-on participation.
