Our 20 week training program prepares participants for work as a Clinical Medical Assistant. More Information | Register Medical Biller – 19 weeks Classroom: 126 hours Externship: 120 hours Cost: $2,995 The Medical Biller gathers charge information, checks coding, enters it into a computer, completes billing processes, and distributes billing information. Our training is designed to introduce students to the major nationwide medical insurance programs and give students a basic knowledge of the national diagnostic and procedural coding systems. More Information | Register Optical Technician – 20 weeks Classroom: 140 hours, Externship: 120 hours Cost: TBD The Optical Technician works as an Optical Assistant or Ophthalmic Technician under the supervision of a licensed eye care professional. Classroom Lectures cover the theory, anatomy and terminology pertaining to the eye. Practical instruction provides hands-on training in pertinent optical/ophthalmic procedures. Instruction covers anatomy of eye and theory of optics, prescription analysis, frame adjustment, repair, and fitting, lensometry and verification. Students will complete an externship to acquire on-the-job training in the profession. Graduates will receive a certificate of completion after successful completion of the course. More Information | Register Orthopedic Technician - 27 weeks Classroom: 182 hours Externship: 240 hours Cost: $3,095 Orthopedic Technicians care for orthopedic patients in acute care and clinic settings. Our 27 week course will include anatomy and physiology of the musculoskeletal system, infection control, patient education, taking patient history, orthopedic conditions, joint and muscle assessment, casting, splinting, bracing, traction, geriatric and pediatric consideration and documentation. More Information | Register Pharmacy Technician Training - 27 weeks Classroom: 182 hours, Externship: 120 hours Cost: $2,995 The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist with mixing and packaging prescriptions, maintaining client records, referring clients to the pharmacist for counseling, assisting with inventory control and purchasing, as well as collecting payment and coordinating billing. This course meets State certification requirements with 182 hours of classroom instruction and a 120 hour externship coordinated by Boston Reed College. Students must be 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent. Upon successful completion of course, students will be eligible to apply for registration with the State of California Board of Pharmacy to work as a Pharmacy Technician. More Information | Register Phlebotomy Technician Training - 27 weeks Classroom: 48 hours Externship: 40 hours Cost: $2,995 The laboratory relies on the Phlebotomy Technician to collect quality samples from the patient to produce quality laboratory results. To do this the phlebotomy technician must create an atmosphere of trust and confidence with patients while drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe and reliable manner. This 88-hour course is intended for those who have no experience and want to become employed as a Phlebotomy Technician in a clinical laboratory or public health department setting. Students work in teams practicing on one another. Students must be 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent. The course combines 48 hours of Classroom instruction with a 40-hour externship to provide you with a complete learning experience. More Information | Register ALREADY A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL? ENHANCE YOUR SKILLS WITH THIS SHORT COURSE Phlebotomy for the Medical Professional - Two Saturdays Classroom: 16 hours Cost: $395 Our two-day phlebotomy course is designed to provide current medical assistants, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), vocational and registered nurses, and medical doctors instruction in the art of drawing blood. Students will become proficient in venipuncture with syringe, vacutainer, butterfly and fingerstick methods built upon a foundation of basic principles of venous anatomy, physiology and sterile technique.
